The quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League will pit two of Europe's toughest sides, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich, against each other in a battle of life and death. The second leg of Inter vs. Bayern will take place at the San Siro stadium in Milan, Italy on Thursday (4/17/2025) at 00:30 IST.
Inter have the advantage after beating Bayern Munich 2-1 in the first leg at the Allianz Arena. They now have their sights set on a place in the Champions League semifinals.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi reminded his team to stay alert in the face of Bayern's pressure.
"We played very well in Munich, but that was only the first step. Now we face another big test against a very strong team. We will be focused and try to maintain this advantage," Inzaghi said in a pre-match press conference.
Bayern Munich arrived at San Siro with a limp. Several key players such as Manuel Neuer, Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano have been ruled out through injury. Nevertheless, coach Vincent Kompany remains optimistic that his team can turn things around.
"We knew it would be difficult, but we didn't come here to give up. We had to play fast and take every chance we could," said Kompany.
Inter are in solid form at the moment, especially at home. The Nerazzurri have conceded just one goal at home in the UEFA Champions League this season, demonstrating their defensive strength in front of their home crowd.
In terms of head-to-head statistics, the two teams are fairly evenly matched. In the last 12 meetings, Bayern have won six, Inter have won five and one match ended in a draw. However, Inter have a slight edge thanks to their aggregate advantage and the support of their fans at the San Siro.
